Both film/title sequences have a strong use of foley sounds and non diegetic sound, such as the cameras shutter lenses opening and closing.

The were strong uses of foley sounds this helped to create an atmosphere, that drew the audience into the scenes and the detail in the scene (suspending disbelief). By making certain sounds into a folly type , there was an ability to make the sounds louder and more intense as its no mix into the sound of the scene

blogging health check 2

I will use a wider range of IT software in my blog when presenting my work, such as prezi. i will also increase the amount of blogs posted in a week.

The Pitch- 10. Cinematic detail - full story board or animatic (Chavarnie)

Blogging Health Check - George

My blogging health check has gone up a lot since the first one. I am now getting to grips with blogging and how it is supposed to be done. Before I was unsure of how and when to post, which has now changed. I now must develop my posts to be more elaborate and detailed, and catch up on a few of the blog posts I missed.

The Pitch - 9. Sound design (George)

These are a few sounds that will contribute towards the soundscape of the film.

We chose these sounds as they add a certain darkness and tension to the movie.
We also plan to use diegetic and non-diegetic sound within  the movie. With sound effects such as a door closing we will use non-diegetic but with dialogue we will use diegetic sound.

Font research

This is other Distributors font/logos  that they use this is popular as they are every identifiable by many. They have also created a brand with these logos.

The pitch - Ident film

Making sound with foley

The Pitch - Title sequence style (George)

We have chosen to do a stylised title sequence. I was inspired by Zombieland and The Taking of Pelham 123.
We intend to be safe and conform to regular layout.

The Pitch - 12. Risk assessment (Pree)

A) Risk Assessment

The Pitch - 1. The film (George)

THE DIARY -

This is the title of our production.

BRIEF OUTLINE

The film will be set in a post office. There are 2 workers (Manager: Bad guy and the worker: good guy). The manager always writes stuff in his diary so one day when he leaves it unattended, the worker tries to look at it but accidentally misplaces it. The manager suspects the worker and sends him to the storage room(his secret spy headquarters) and confronts him. What happens next is for the audience to decide.

The Pitch - 5. Audience detail (Chavarnie)

This is a profile on target audience that like certain film that have the same genre that is similar to ours for example " Jurassic world "

Who is your core target audience ? Provide a detailed audience profile of a typical audience member to show who they are.

Our target audience is people preferable aged 16 - 25 (late 20's) who prefer to watch horror/crime thriller film. We've chosen this demographic as they're are interested in our film that we are promoting, so therefore it will be successful in this category. This target audience is young. we might appeal to older age group from 25 - 35.  Are certificate that we will put on our film is aged "15" as there will be no hard violence or goriness that won't be appropriate for the age group.

Who is your wider target audience? Give evidence from your research.

This was an example of a demographic group for "The boy next door"

How will you attract them to your film (you can link this to whether you are mainstream or independent)?

we will attract them by marketing on platforms such as social media as we will be a independent distributer, such as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook for instances. This will hopefully attract them as the target research display the majority of the demographic used social media such as "Facebook"

The Pitch - 4 institutional detail (Chavarnie)

Will your film be main stream or independent production?

we will be an independent production company.

Who will distribute your film?
"studio 24" will distribute our film

What other distribution companies is yours similar to ?

Other distributors that are similar to our company is "Universal Pictures" as they promote films that are similar to our genre, and themes. Another company that is similar to ours are "Blumhouse Productions" are they specialise in horror and thriller films and as we are currently promoting a thriller film we have the common feature of the genre being used.  "IndustryWorks Pictures", which is a small production company that helps to market not well known directors and small low budgeted produced films to give them a platform to display films on, this company mainly target audiences that prefer horror, thriller and spoof films. this is similar to out company as our company as we are also a low budgeted production. We also sell the same genre of film.

Name some films they have distributed that are like yours (if you were to make the full feature) and indicates how this makes your company a good choice.

  • "American Beauty" which is distributed by " IndustryWorks Pictures"
  • "the boy next door" - "Blumhouse Production"
  • "Mama"
  • "jurassic Park"
  • "Savages"- "Universal Pictures"
This makes our company a good choice as it films had grossed to a large amounts and have been popular with their audiences.

How would the ownership affect the type of titles and credits you have ?

There will be a smaller title sequence, as we are an independent company so we will have a lower budget in producing our film. we may also have a smaller cast that is credited. we will include our ident "studio 24" which entitles ownership of the material produced.

The Pitch - 11. Production Schedule (Pree)

The Pitch - 6. Mise-en-scene (Location & Setting)(Pree)

A) LOCATIONS

  • We were thinking of using locations, such as the library and the storage closet in the graphic/photography classroom within the college and possibly outside the college (around the islington area) for specific scenes. We have also discussed possibly finding an actual post office, with permission, to film scenes for the title sequence.

B) SETTING

  • The settings of the title sequence will be filmed around the college grounds (inside and possibly outside) in Owen's field.

head on task

My genre is thriller, with influences of horror/ thriller genre films such as American Mary and Seven

these films have theme of murder and secrets. This relates to our ideas and influences us on how to display our film and how present it.
the film American Mary, has strong influences of violence and goriness , which i would like to adapt to the film. the film also has the element of hidden personalities, by the same character, which displays a strong story and character development in the film, and is clearly shown in the title sequence which engages their target audience.
The film seven has a theme of mystery and lure with the possible story plot, which engaged their target audience and also me, the strong use of imagery created a strong impacted on the viewer , with the fast paced movements of the scenes, and the use of the ambient music accompanying the scenes.

these features influenced my ideas , in what i want my film to be like and the way i present ideas and lighting used to create affect such a the lightning in seven when highlighting the diary.

I also had ideas of using light objects such as a diary to be the centre of attention and the object of interest, which will intrige the audience and give interest to our target audience.

individual idea

I'm doing this post to display my idea on what the final film should be like and the story line that will hopefully engage my target audience, this helps to develop my title sequence as planning can now help me evaluate what shot types are needed to display my story line. this also helps to convey my film genre 'Thriller' if i have a general idea in mind.

My plot of my title sequence is two men that work in a business but the manger is not who he says he is, he is in fact a evil person with murderous intentions and posses a mysterious diary that contains all his secrets and murderous tales,  the ordinary other man is an idly a worker with a strong curiosity for the mysterous diary and it secrets. The diary goes missing and the 'manger' goes insane with his obsession of his personal diary and its where about.  The worker finds the 'manger' being very sceptical about who he really is as he displays skills that are out of the ordinary for a store manger.

Both men will range from the ages of 20-28
working class men, with average life styles and social groups , or so its seems. I have learned that the plot creates the feature of thriller film and that it will be affective in presenting the ideas which will attract my target audience

Distribution

Jurassic Park

The role of social media
  • Jurassic park was released in 1993, so there wasn't any social media to promote the film. So i decided to look at the 3D version of the film
The type of release

  • Jurassic Park had a wide release globally

49) Rough Cut 1 (Target audience feedback) - Tasmina

48) Evidence of editing

Our first editing session went pretty well. We combined all our clips together a trimmed the ones that weren't necessary.

47) Blogging health check 2

My ICT presentation skills has improved as I am using different sites such as Prezi and Powtoon. However, different types of ICT could be used. I also need to manage my time properly and the different types of presentation also matter such as: font, background. this can be changed by experimenting with different colours and fonts. Other sites such as gifs can be used to present images.

42) Pitch Evaluation

Overall, the audience had said that they enjoyed the presentation because it was extremely detailed. We mentioned what we wanted our characters to wear and who our audience was and stuff. However one of the things that we could've improved was who was going to act in our title sequence. Another thing was the location being used. The initial idea was to do it in a Post Office, but it was hard to find one that would let us film.

3 targets:

-Find a location
-production schedule should be thorough
-Actors hired

41) The Pitch Feedback

The Feedback

The feedback back given to us by the class was overall reasonably good response. We have been given feedback such as "the pitch is very detailed and we have a great idea for a title sequence"and have been given ratings that ranged between 6 and 8 or has been left blank.
