10) Intro into Genre

TASK 1

Definitions:

GENRE= A style or category of art, music or literature.
SUB-GENRE= A subdivision of a genre of literature, music, film etc.
HYBRID GENRE= A genre in fiction that blends themes and elements from two or more different
genres. As opposed to the conservatism of most genre fiction, cross-genre
writing offers opportunities for opening up debates and stimulating discussions.
CODES&CONVENTIONS= Codes are systems of signs, which create meaning. Codes can be
divided into 2 categories (technical and symbolic). Technical codes are
all the ways in which equipment is used to tell the story in a media
text. For example the camera work in a film. Symbolic codes show
what is beneath the surface of what we see.
GENRE-TROPE= A trope if a familiar and repeated symbol, meme, theme, motif, style, character
or thing that permeates a particular type of literature. They are usually tied heavily                               to genre.
