Purpose of a Film Opening and Title sequence

The purpose of a film opening and title sequence is to give the audience an idea of what the specific film is about. This can be shown through music, scenery/ location (to create tone or mood), colour scheme and credit fonts. A title sequence and film opening should also introduce the genre, indents and introductions to the characters of the film.
